I have an older friend I used to go to church with that I check in with from time to time (I’m 51, he’s in his early 80s but he and his wife are still spry and in good health.) I haven’t seen him in a couple of years but we keep in touch and I checked in with him via text a couple of weeks ago. He asked me to come by and see them. I texted him yesterday and told him I would come by today (Monday) on my lunch break for a few minutes.
I pulled into their driveway and started walking toward their front door when his wife came out of the garage about 50 feet away. So I started walking toward her, knowing she’d want a big hug.
Her: “Uh…hello?”
Me: “Hi Theresa, how are you!”
Her: “Uh…fine…who are you?”
Me: “Ha!” (thinking she was kidding.)
Her: “Uh…who ARE you? Wait. Chris? OH! CHRIS!!!“
My friend had forgotten to tell his wife I was coming and she flat out didn’t recognize me. I guess that is what 180 pounds lost (so far) will do for you!
