Honesty Post.
It’s early February 2026 as I’m writing this. My posts have gotten more and more infrequent, and anything beyond food reviews have dropped off. i’m aware of this and I’m aware of why.
It seems like late last summer I really started a slide. I think a bit of it was natural but most of it was just me.
The natural part is that my hunger and ability to consume more food both ramped up. I’m guessing that is normal. I still can’t eat more than 30% (ish) of what I previously could, but I do feel I legit get more hungry and can eat more than I have since surgery.
But there is the side that isn’t a natural process. I started snacking. I started having a little candy here and there. Then a little more. Then more. A little more ice cream regularly. A few more late night snacks. Then a few more. Some cake? Sure.
I’ve gained some weight. Not enough to be worried, but enough to worry me, if that makes sense.
My goal was 225. I hit around 227 and just hovered and hovered between 226 and 229. I couldn’t seem to move the needle. One time…ONE TIME…I weighed 224.7. But the next day I was 226..then 227. So I don’t really count that.
Then I started slowly gaining.
I’m around 240 right now…so I’ve gained about 13 pounds. While that is nothing compared to where I once was, that’s absolutely frightening to me.
I’m also noticing some old mindsets like “I’ll get back on track on Monday.”
This was my fear. Gaining back was my fear.
I’ve got to get this under control and refocus.
