I'm About To Lose It Logo

An obese 50 year old guy takes the plunge into RNY gastric bypass surgery.

I had read a lot about the ricotta bake before surgery. A lot of people raved about it like it was the golden child. I wasn’t a super huge fan of ricotta cheese before anyway.

After being on liquids for the week before and 2 weeks after, I get it…this stuff is awesome! So awesome I had it for dinner two nights ago, then lunch and dinner yesterday. I’m going to take a break from it today but will probably have it again tomorrow.

I’m not a cook and it was super easy to make even for me. Just a few cheeses, an egg, seasoning and some sauce. There are many recipes online but I followed this one: https://www.shespeaks.com/Bariatric-friendly-Baked-Ricotta-Recipe

I could see this being good for families or couples even if not on the bariatric journey. The macros (calories, carbs, proteins) on this are really good. For me, a 4oz serving came out to 160 calories, 7 carbs, 18 protein, which is great!

I was never clear if I’m supposed to be having this on the pureed stage (which I’m on) or the soft foods stage, but I was getting tired of tomato and cream of chicken soup so I went for it. It gives me no problems going down. Highly recommended!
