I'm About To Lose It Logo

An obese 50 year old guy takes the plunge into RNY gastric bypass surgery.

Today is my 51st birthday. Not a big deal per se, although I’m sure happy to make another trip around the sun! 🙂

I just wanted to write myself a reminder that this journey was the best gift I could ever give myself. This morning I weighed 348. I still have a LONG way to go. I don’t know what the final number I’m shooting for is, but it’s at least 100+ pounds away.

BUT…I’m also the lowest I’ve been in probably 15 or 20 years. I’m closing in on the the approximate weight I was 25 years ago when I got married. That was somewhere around 330…I’m sure I will post about that when I get there.

A lot of guys who go through this process are looking for “ONEderland” (something under 200 pounds.) I don’t think I will ever be in ONEderland…and I’m okay with that. I’m 6’2″ and I’m a barrel chested and broad shouldered guy. Someday I might be out of the BIG but I will never be out of the TALL part of big and tall. Who knows? Maybe I can. The BMI chart says my healthy weight is somewhere around 190. I don’t see it…but I’m not going to discount it yet. It would have to involve skin removal surgery I think, and I don’t think I will go that route.

But for me, I’m dreaming of just being under 300. It was probably my early to mid 20’s when I was last in that range.

But today…happy birthday to me! Moving on!
