I'm About To Lose It Logo

An obese 50 year old guy takes the plunge into RNY gastric bypass surgery.

Pre-op diet day one tried to kick my butt!

I’ve been both looking forward to and dreading (but mostly dreading) the 2 week pre-op, because it means I’m almost to my surgery date.

Unfortunately the night before I got very little sleep and to top it off my first day was a Monday.

Three protein shakes, then a small meal for dinner…no caffeine and no gum. I was ready to north end of a south bound donkey by the time I went to bed! Aw but I did get a “snack” of sugar free Jello and a sugar free popsicle. Mmmm….

I ate 740 calories the entire day. In the past I’d eat 740 calories in my first bite of food! Okay, maybe not, but I was definitely getting 3…4…5 times that (or more) in day.

But that’s what got me to where I am. So it’s time for a change.

Many people say this pre-op is the hardest part of the process and I can believe it.

Here’s hoping day two goes a bit better. I did get more sleep so that’s something! I am really dreading week two where I don’t get any food, only four protein shakes a day.

Let’s do this.
