I’m continuing on my pre-op path. Over the last few weeks I’ve done 5 days of a food diary where I wrote down everything I ate on random days. It was pretty telling (and honestly not even the worst days I’ve had). But it was a very good excercise for me, which was the point.
At my previous (first) appointment I weighed in at 508. That was incredibly sad. They told me to not really worry about weight loss yet and for the most part I’ve been doing pretty much the opposite of that…I feel like I’ve been eating more in the last few weeks than I normally do. I feel like I’ve been “squirrelling away” food, knowing I won’t get to eat like I’m used to in the future.
Today was my second visit, my nutrition “class.” Really it was just a 30 minute talk with the nutritionist and before the appointment i watched a series of 8 short videos and answered some questions. But I do think it was still helpful.
Somehow, even though I feel like I’ve been eating more, I had lost ELEVEN pounds since my last visit about a month ago! I’m honestly not sure how that happened. I guess that one day I ate healthy and drank lots of water paid off! (Sarcasm.)
I have a checklist of things to get accomplished before surgery and all of them have happened or are in progress. The biggest hold up is counseling. I went to my first of four visits with their recommended counselor and it was mostly intake…I sat and watched him type in all of my info from my chart (which I had completed online) into his computer. Ah the wonders of technology. However when I was done and they scheduled my next of four visits they didn’t have an appointment for TWO MONTHS. At that rate it would be 8 months before I could think about scheduling surgery. I don’t want to wait that long so they are working on getting me a quicker appointment with another doctor. Here’s hoping that works!
Onward and upward (or in the case of my weight…downward.) 🙂
