This is just a reminder for me, for you (if anyone is reading), for whoever. It’s a long road. It’s a journey. It’s a process.
It’s cliché to say it but it’s true “You didn’t get here overnight.”
I started out at a higher weight than probably the majority of people who get weight loss surgery. In terms of pounds, I have a lot more to get rid of than most people. I don’t know what my final number is I’m shooting for but I’m only about half way, maybe a little over, to getting there.
Before surgery I lost 20 pounds. In the 2 weeks before surgery I lost another 25. That was 45 pounds going into surgery and I didn’t feel, or look any different.
A month after surgery I started to feel it, although I didn’t see it. Two months and I didn’t really see it.
It took a bit over 3 months post surgery before I started noticing I DID actually look smaller.
Here I am 165 pounds down. I’m still a big guy. But I can see it. Others can see it.
It always feels good to be complimented for the loss by others. Most likely you will struggle with your body image (body dysmorphism is a real thing for men and women who get surgery.)
It will happen. You just have to keep plugging along. Don’t give up. Savor the scale and non-scale victories. Hold on to those when things get hard.
It’ll happen, just keep going…
