I'm About To Lose It Logo

An obese 50 year old guy takes the plunge into RNY gastric bypass surgery.

It’s just been a little over a week since my one year surgery-versary (surgerversary?)

It was great to take that moment to see how far I’ve come, both since my surgery and even before that since I started the whole journey. I’m really proud of what I’ve accomplished.

But…I have been struggling lately. I feel that my hunger hormones are not only kicking back in but coming back with a vengeance! I’ve felt very “snacky” lately, and I must confess I don’t think I’ve been doing the best with it.

Last year at this time I had just had surgery, was only on liquids, and wasn’t hungry at all. I had zero Halloween candy for probably the first time in my life. We get several hundred kids trick or treating and we buy lots of candy. This year I found myself having “just one” here and there.

I’ve also been snacking with other stuff too.

This snacking has translated into a stall. For over a week I’ve not only lost weight but showed a little gain. There are other factors involved too in the potty area, but I know the eating is the bulk of it. I finally registered a small loss recently but its nothing like I’d been losing, even a few weeks ago.

I’m just a few pounds away from losing literally 1/2 of my body weight…I’m less than 30 pounds away from my goal (which I will re-evaluate when I hit.) I’ve come so far and I’ve got to get this snacking under control. Gaining back has always been my biggest fear.

The struggle is real. :-/
