Fourteen days ago today was my gastric bypass (Reux-En-Y) surgery. As of the morning I’ve lost a total of 65 pounds; 48 before surgery, 17 since. That’s an average of 1.2 pounds a day since surgery…which just kind of blows my mind!
While it does get old eating the same things over and over, it’s still a trip that I don’t really WANT to eat. I’ve only had 1 or 2 times in the last 14 days when I felt a little hungry. For those times a small bite of tomato or cream of chicken soup (about 1/2 a cup) filled me up.
Today is not only my first day back to work, but also my first day on pureed foods. Today I’m adding in applesauce and refried beans and a bit of salsa. I ran the beans through the blender with some protein powder and a touch of salsa in them to loosen them up. They came out as “refried bean mousse” so that should be a very interesting lunch today. Luckily I only have to eat the pureed stuff a week, then it’s on to soft food for several weeks.
In the world of non-scale victories I moved the belt another notch today. I started at notch 9 and today went into notch 14 so that’s a wine. I’m noticing my current shirts, which were snug but not tight, are now very comfortable.
So we are truckin’ along and rejoining the “real world”. Let’s do this!
